The search for Miss Tourism 2015 is on and Arua is spicing it up with a diversity of the Kakwa, Lugbara and Alur Nubi lifestyles.

This beauty contest was recently held at Heritage Hotel and it saw seven finalists keep their guests on the edge of their seats.

Sheillah Princess Obila emerged the winner after spotting a skimpy skirt creatively put together with plastic bottles.

When asked why she wore this attire, Obila said “The environment issue has always been important to our country.” Adding that, “Climate change affects the whole world. It does not matter whether you are a millionaire, peasant or a model.”

Jildah Angeyango one of the contestants raised everyone’s eyebrows when she appeared on stage in a feather suit revealing the ebony flesh.

Speaking to the judges, Angeyango explained why she wore this attire saying, “This is our ancestral heritage. Our fore fathers dressed like this and this is a culture we ought to preserve for future generations.”

Racheal Aneker, the second runner up, promised to market Arua as a tourist destination which has a rich history, cultural diversity and with beautiful animals and birds.

The judges commented on the girl’s performance saying they were good and promising. “They just need to go in camp for training since the competition is stiff,” Belinda Atim, a Judge, said.
