HELPING Uganda to qualify for the next Africa Nations Championship is not a big deal but to avoid the shame the Cranes returned with from the second edition in Khartoum, Sudan will be the ultimate task.

In 2011, the then coach Bobby Williamson, sailed the Uganda Cranes through to the finals in Khartoum but the Cranes were miserably the first to be bundled out following two successive defeats to the Sudanese Nile Crocodiles and an earlier one to Algeria.

Williamson had lost the majority of his players, who helped Uganda qualify for the finals when they turned professional and became illegitimate to feature in the championship meant for home-based players.

Now, in anticipation of another exodus of players for professional career, current Uganda Cranes coach Mulitin Micho Sredejovic plans a massive player scouting process for the national team across the country.

Micho told a press conference at Namboole on Saturday that he would immediately identify fresh players to train together for last 2014 World Cup qualifier against Senegal.

“I hope the federation will help secure an international friendly match on the FIFA designated date (August 14). We do not want to export poor quality football to South Africa and yet Uganda is known for the best in East Africa,” Micho said.
