On Tuesday at Kitante, the Uganda Golf Union president Kiryowa Kiwanuka was presented with a sh200m cheque by Uganda Breweries Marketing Director, Grace Gwaku for one of the biggest tournaments in the history of the open.

The five-in-one event will incorporate all categories starting with the Uganda Ladies Golf Union open on July 15-18.

A subsidiary event for the ladies will also be held on July 17 with those making the cut after the first day playing in the second round alongside the players in the main draw on July 18.

The Seniors Open will follow thereafter on July 19-20 before the main amateur open that will be played over 72 holes from July 21 with a practice round, followed by competition over four days.

There will be a cut in this category as well with half the field of the top performers playing in the final two rounds. There will be a subsidiary event in this category who will also be subjected to a cut on Friday before the final round.

From July 27 to August 1 the professionals will join the fray for a four-round competition, fighting for a share of sh100m which the sponsors have staked. The Pro's category will also feature a subsidiary event who will also be subjected to a cut just like the professionals after two rounds.

The Uganda Open competitions will then conclude with a Juniors Open on August 21. There is a time lapse in between to allow those at school to return from holiday so they can compete in the open.

Tournament director Herbert Rwamibazi told a press conference that there were still in talks with other sponsors who might add some money on the professional's kitty.
