The Anglican bishop of Kumi Diocese, Thomas Edison Irigei was on Tuesday morning involved in a road accident after his vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser reg. UAJ 485 G overturned after he lost control.
The bishop was rushing to attend court in Ngora district when he crashed along Kabalasa road in Eastern ward, Ngora town.
"He was speeding to catch to attend court in Ngora and he was the only one in the vehicle," said the police spokesperson, Juma Hassan Nyene.

Good Samaritans rescued the bishop who sustained injuries and rushed him to Freddarr hospital.
The family transferred him to orthopedic hospital in Kumi district for an x-ray examination that showed that he was not critically injured.
"We have discharged him because the injuries were minor. We hope he will be in position to walk well by tomorrow (Wednesday)," said Dr. John Ekure of Kumi orthopedic hospital.
However police insist that the bishop must record a statement to enable them understand what caused the accident.
"We allow him to recover but after he is required by law to record the statement," Nyene said adding that the wreckage was at Ngora police.
When asked about the charges that police shall prefer against the man of God, Nyene said that they can only charge him after registering a complaint.
"If there is no complaint then we shall have nothing to do but should there be a person with a complaint then we shall come up with charges against him.
The bishop was discharged at 3pm to allow him complete treatment under the care of his family.
Our efforts to talk to the bishop were futile because he did not receive our phone calls.
