Former Rugby Union chairman in the early 2000 and Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) Vice Chairman Paul Wanyama Sigombe face off with Andrew Owor Uganda Rugby union top post of president in today Sunday polls at Silver Springs Hotel, Bugolobi.


According to Sigombe the rugby fraternity needs a mature leadership to foster Unity that is no more in the union leading to the declining performance of the national teams on the International scene.

"What we want is unity and then find out the appropriate programs that suits Uganda rugby besides lobbying for sponsors," Sigombe stated.

Sources have it that Sigombe's camp, on top of having support from some executive members, 12 member clubs have blessed him and they include, Kobs, Pirates, Rhinos, Impis, Entebbe Mongers, Nkumba, Kyambogo, Warriors, Gulu, Lira, Mbale and Legends Rugby Club.

Sigombe's camp has an upper hand over Owor that has a few executive members; Heathens, Buffaloes and Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Sigombe has Andrew Owinyi as his vice president, Godwin Kayangwe as secretary, Denis Mutoijo as treasurer, Oscar Olaro and Denis Ojok as committee Members.
