Inter Forces Games: Police win athletics title

Uganda Police have successfully defended their Inter Forces Games athletes crown with an easy victory over the three other teams in the competition at Namboole Stadium.

Uganda Police have successfully defended their Inter Forces Games athletes crown with an easy victory over the three other teams in the competition at Namboole Stadium.
Police raced to a 405 points lead, with 40 points ahead of Prisons who collected 366 points followed by UPDF and UWA with 187 and 87 points respectively.
To emerge victorious, Police won among others the men’s and women’s 10,000m, 5,000m, 400m and steeple chase.
Police’s female athlete Doreen Chemutai started her team’s victory in the 10,000m after she finished with 37 minute, 27 and 01 seconds, two seconds ahead of fellow team mate Zena Chebet who finished at 37:29.07sec followed by Vanis Chemutai in third place with 37:36.09sec.
Later they registered other victories from Stella Chesang, Scovia Ayikoru and Ayikoru after they won the women’s 5000m, 400m and 200m respectively while others Moses Kurong, Joshua Cheptegei, Ali Ngaimoko and Nathan Ayeko won the men’s 10,000m, 5,000m, 400m and steeple chase categories respectively to take emerge victorious.
Meanwhile Prison’s Dorcus Ajok’s double victory in the 800m and 1500m played a great role in steering her team to second position overall.
