TORO Golf Club’s Richard Baguma’s dream of boarding a plane again could come true after qualifying for the Dasani Golf Series final for the second consecutive time during the qualifiers at Toro Club on Saturday.

Baguma qualified alongside last year’s winning team mate Collins Acellam and new team members Chris Arineitwe and George Kaihura.

The excited youngster who hit an eagle and two birdies believes his team can put another winning display in Kampala and win another all-expenses paid trip to another golf destination in Europe. Last year the winning team toured Thailand.

“We are the defending champions so we had to work hard to qualify again. Everyone was dismissing us after losing two of our team mates to the new rules, but the replacements were even better,” Baguma, 17, said.

Though he has never played at Kitante, team mate Chris Arineitwe who returned 42 points, the best score on the day, was also in buoyant mood and expects the best in Kampala on August 10.

“I have only walked the first nine holes on Kitante but will just play the course as it is and hopefully we shall win and win the trip again, Arineitwe said.

It was a family affair from the Mbarara Club as Charles Kagombe qualified alongside his wife Edrae, daughter Jackie Kwesiga and son Collins Kagombe.

The two winning teams from each club will be joined by a third team that will compete against thirty teams from Kampala and three others each from the Jinja and Entebbe qualifiers.

Michael Alunga, Ramesh Feroze, Dan Musinguzi and Hasfa Namusoke led the men and ladies groups A-C.

Entebbe Club will host the next qualifiers on Saturday.
