This year, the College of Computing and Information Sciences, Makerere University – Cisco Academy Support and Instructor Training Center in conjunction with Cisco Systems Inc. held the Annual Cisco Africa Networking Safari for East Africa from 18th – 19th June 2013 at Makerere University.

This year, the College of Computing and Information Sciences, Makerere University – Cisco Academy Support and Instructor Training Center in conjunction with Cisco Systems Inc. held the Annual Cisco Africa Networking Safari for East Africa from 18th – 19th June 2013 at Makerere University.

During this event, the Cisco Academy program celebrated fi fteen (15) years of existence. The two day event brought together Cisco Partners to discuss means of maintaining the quality of Information Technology instruction by providing in-depth technical refresher training sessions and updates on the core topics in Networking like IPv6. The event facilitated interactions between Cisco experts, instructors from the African region and heads of institutions that host Cisco academies, local contact managers, prospective employers for workforce development, cisco strategic business partners and resellers.

The School of Computing and Informatics Technology (CIT) located in the College of Computing and Information Sciences
(CoCIS) won funding from the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED). The funding is meant to facilitate the implementation of research and training projects aimed at boosting the country’s ICT development agenda.
