After training bus drivers in Kampala, Vivo Energy, has rolled out a campaign to equip upcountry drivers with road safety tips to reduce road accidents.

The northern Uganda drivers gathered in Lira for the training. Paul Kwamusi, the road safety instructor engaged them on defensive driving, road signs and dangers of over speeding.

The Inspector of Vehicles Lango Sub region, Richard Ogen, urged the drivers to always ensure safety of passengers by checking their buses before loading.

Lango sub region OC traffic, Edson Biremwa, hailed Vivo Energy for supporting the drivers. He noted that due to such trainings, bus accidents have reduced by 40%.

Biremwa revealed that they are set to issue budges to taxi drivers.

The drivers acknowledged that most of them don't get enough training adding that they learn from their colleagues.

They asked for a driving school specifically for bus drivers so that they learn from qualified personnel.
