POLICE have found the man who had gone missing in Adjumani town and caused the arrest of Mary Gonzaga Nalule, wife of Lubaga South Member of Parliament, Ken Lukyamuzi.

The spokesman for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Patrick Onyango told New Vision that a team from Kampala that included police detectives and the suspect reported to Adjumani police station where they found Amir Kasenge (20) who had been earlier suspected to have gone missing.

Onyango said Kasenge had developed mental problems and went into someone's home forcing the owner to report to police.

"The man who had been thought to have gone missing has actually been in police custody for three days, they were planning to take him to a mental facility," he said.

According to Onyango, the team picked Kasenge and was Wednesday evening on their way back to Kampala. "We shall close the file since the missing person has been found," he said.

Nalule was arrested on Monday and detained at Natete Police Station where she had been summoned to explain about a case that had been reported by Lamulah Ndagire, the mother of Kasenge who claimed her son could have been killed.

Ndagire reported that Nalule connected her son to work in Adjumani without informing her and he consequently went missing.

Lukyamuzi said he had not been informed about the arrest of his wife and only got a phone call that she had been detained.

The acting District Police Commander, Adjumani Gabriel Vuko told New Vision on phone that Kasenge had been taken to Adjumani to work in a restaurant but the owner left for Kampala the night he arrived.

"The restaurant owner was away when the man developed mental problems and disappeared," he said.

He explained that a resident took Kasenge to Adjumani police station but the personnel there first rejected him on grounds that he had a big injury on his head and asked him to be treated.

He however stayed at the station and the DPC ordered him to be taken for treatment at the police clinic.

"He stayed here as we treated him, but someone picked him but he again disappeared and friends and workmates started looking for him," Vuko explained.

During the confusion, Kasenge is alleged to have resurfaced at the police clinic by himself seeking for further treatment with another injury on his stomach and was complaining of severe pain.

According to Vuko, the nurse tipped the police who picked him and he was confined at the station to prevent him from further escape.

"We have now finally handed him over to his relatives and the team of detectives from Kampala that came for him," Vuko said.

Meanwhile Nalule while at Katwe police station on Thursday morning said “first of all I  am happy that God has heard my prayers and the man has been found, I  am ready to encounter any challenge until the case is finalized” she said.

She further explained that Kasenge used to wash honorable Lukyamuzi’s car and carrying luggages to earn a living, who asked her to get him a better job.

It is from that ground that I communicated to my sister Christine Nabisenke, who had requested me to look for a laborer to work in her Olungu hotel located in Adjumani district.

Kasenge was to pocket sh70, 000 as his monthly salary.

Tense mood at Katwe police

Yesterday, both parties exchanged bitter words in the CIID”S office at Katwe police, who  called police officers to chase them out of office and looked herself inside.

This followed controversy developed on where to take Kasenge for medical examinations. Lukyamuzi wife wanted him to be taken to Lubaga hospital or Kibuli on her cost which was objected by his relatives accompanied by politicians.

After a one hour of confusion, Kasenge was taken to Kabalagala police station for police examinations about his health status.

Kasenge travelled to Adjumani last Wednesday to work and after three successful days at work, he developed a mental problem and went missing.

Lukyamuzi intervenes

The Lubaga south Member of Parliament Ken Lukyamuzi, who arrived at kite police station at around 10am, entered into a closed dialogue with CIID and relatives of Kasenge and agreed to take him first for medical checkup. “Instead of torturing my wife, let him be subjected to medical scrutiny “he said.

Lukyamuzi speaking to New vision said “I am now perturbed, but I have confidence in my wife, I have paid all the money used for his search in Adjumani because little could we know that, he will be found since Adjumani is nearer to South Sudan” he said.

Lamulah Ndagire says

At the moment, I want my son be subjected to medical examinations first, others issues will be communicated in time to come.
