Mpigi road accident kills 5, injures dozen

At least five people have died and 12 others sustained serious injuries in an accident at Mpambire on Kampala-Masaka Road in Mpigi district.

The accident occurred at 7:30pm Wednesday evening when a speeding Kampala-Sembabule bound taxi registration number UAW 308X knocked down a boda boda cyclist crossing the road before ramming into a lorry.


According to Joshua Mutesasira, a survivor, said that some passengers  had warned the driver against over-speeding but in vain.

Fabian Betubiza, the Katonga region traffic officer attributed the accident to wreckless driving.
