IT is never okay to be eliminated at the quarter finals of any tournament but its very disturbing to remain at that place because of flight connections.

This is what is happening to the Ugandan teams Express and URA that were eliminated from the CECFAFA club championship on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

By press time URA were still in El Fasher while Express were still in Khartoum. They are both fed up and they just want to go home.

“We are tired of this place and the only thing we want is to go back home” team manager URA, Sam Okabo said yesterday.

The same thing is happening to Express who are still in Khartoum even though they were eliminated on Wednesday.

“The boys are so tired and just want to go back home. We were told that we could leave Monday morning but we are not so sure considering that dates have been constantly pushed forward.” Muhamood Katerega the Express manager said.

All teams that participated in this tournament had open plane tickets and it is believed that this is the root cause of their over stay in the region since most flights are full.

Meanwhile, APR side of Rwanda had to overcome a determined home side El Merriekh El fasher to get into the final of this year’s Championship.

El Merriekh received a red card in the 2nd minute of the game but thanks to their home support, they held on ending up getting the first goal through the Ugandan player Joseph Kabagambe.

Last year, APR lost at the semi-finals but this time they have moved a step closer and are now optimistic that they can win the trophy.

The final will be played today.
