WITH the Rugby Cranes still healing from the wounds of last weekend’s crushing 19-13 defeat against Kenya and the eventual loss of the Elgon Cup, the technical bench is now focusing on strength and fitness as they prepare for the Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR Cup) semi-final due next month in Madagascar.

Well aware of the strength and conditioning of the team (Kenya) they will face in the semi-final, players’ strength and fitness has been coach Peter Magona’ emphasis since they resumed training on Tuesday.

“We are back to the drawing board, working more on strength and conditioning as well as set pieces with more emphasis on our game situations,” a player stated after a training session.

The coaching team has decided that strength and body conditioning is still wanting and will be the emphasis for the next two weeks.

Lock Joel Anguyo who missed the Elgon Cup due to an ankle strain is back with the team and started training on Thursday.

The Rugby Cranes’ looked weaker in mauls and rucks against the same team they face in Madagascar next month.

The top three teams will be joined by one from Division 1B to play the Rugby World Cup qualifiers next year.
