It is already public knowledge that American saxophonists Gerald Albright and Kirk Whalum will feature on this year's Jazz Safari event, but which soul singer will headline it?

Could it be American soul singer Karyn White (famous for her 1989 hit, ‘Superwoman’) or we have to wait a little longer for any confirmation?

The event's founder and organizer Tshaka Mayanja has been muted on who will headline the eighth edition but, seems to have thrown hints when he took to his Facebook wall and ran a profile of Karyn White, captioned; "Wow. Ageless, eternal beauty. Grown and still sexy."

Bombarded with questions as to whether he was giving a hint, he later more or less confirmed that indeed, White will feature at this year’s Jazz Safari.

Following the visit by R&B legend Billy Ocean; and the pending visits by such international artists like Hugh Masekela and the Ladysmith Black Mambazo, there has been keen interest on what artist will be big enough to bring back interest in the Jazz Safari.

Karyn White was popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s for her R&B singles like ‘Love Saw It’ (1988) ‘Superwoman’ (1989), ‘Secret Rendezvous’ (1989), ‘The Way You Love Me’ (1988), and ‘Romantic’ (1991).

Jazz Safari organisers has received demands from fans on social media to fetch in soul artistes in the mould of Lionel Richie, Baby Face and Toni Braxton after successfully bringing in Regina Belle, Keith Sweat and Joe Thomas in recent years, but they have been careful not to confirm whom they will headline with this year. For now, it looks like Karyn White is on her way here.
