The new sh3bn Gayaza Junior School campus will be ready for the first term in 2016, according to the school headmistress Margaret Najjemba Kibuuka.

This will be the first time that the Church of Uganda is opening an annex for its school in the country, with Gayaza junior and High School set to share out on the 60 acres of Church of Uganda land.

The two schools have a history dating back to 1905.

Both institutions will be utilising 25 acres of land each with the remaining 10 acres being used for a vocational institution.

"We would have wanted to even have the first classes next term; there is already an ongoing class and we are waiting for the opportune moment to transfer the rest to this campus," said Kibuuka at a function to lay a foundation  stone at the Jjungo campus.

The new campus is found in Kassanje zone, Wakiso district.

"We will make sure that the children study agriculture, crockery, catering among others so that they can support themselves in case they fail to get formal jobs. That is what we have been lacking in our education system," said Kibuuka.

She was supported by the chairman of the school management committee, Rev. Can. Augustine Magala Musiwufu, saying that the new campus will get a rural setting with an orchard, horse riding strip, farm and swimming pool as a means of attracting more people and making them learn about nature.

"We are going to put up a school of international standards that will lay a great foundation for these children as they grow up," said Musiwufu.

Namirembe Diocese Bishop, Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the building. The first phase will have dormitories, classes, head teacher's house and teachers' guest house among others.

He appealed to the contractors to perform to expectations.

"We need to be accountable to all and continue inviting visitors and stakeholders to see the development of the project. Let us move together and race towards the finish line of these institutions with commitment," added Luwalira.

He said that this should be a year of accountability in  Namirembe Diocese, not only for funds but all other properties like land, showing we have added value and utilised them.

"Let us stop talking about what has been taken but fight to utilise what is remaining to improve on the people's audition," said Luwalira.
