Seals swimmers still top after second league meet

Nuwa Senkebe, Avice Meya, Anthea Mudanye, Mercedes Mwebeiha, Alexis Kituuka and Hannah Kyanda maintained their lead on the standings in their age categories, after the second Seals Swim League at Kampala Parents.

Nuwa Senkebe, Avice Meya, Anthea Mudanye, Mercedes Mwebeiha, Alexis Kituuka and Hannah Kyanda maintained their lead on the standings in their age categories, after the second Seals Swim League at Kampala Parents.


Senkebe still leads the 15 and over boys’ category with 70 points. Louis Wolimbwa (41pts) and Makerere University's Ronald Ssegwanyi (36 points are second and third respectively.

Dolphins Arnold Kisulo, 17 who missed the first meet won all his races in this category but remains 5th on the log.

In the girls' category, 20-year old Avice Meya is also still top on 60 points with new entrant Jamila Lunkuse Nsibambi in second place on 28 points.

Olympiad Lunkuse was also a class apart in this category as she easily won all her heats, displacing International School of Uganda's Standen Isabelle who is now third on 26 points on the log. Altona Swim Club's Shiminah Kulabako closely follows on 16 points.

Fourteen year old Anthea Mudanye (74pts) leads the 13-14 year olds alongside Katrina Ssangalyambogo (55points) and Nicole Lutalo (36pts).

Mercedes Mwebeiha leads the 11-12 years old category on 71 points with Chiara Kagugube Nansamba (42pts) and Ssinzi Nabatanzi (29pts) third.

Another exciting entrant in this category is Dolphins Selina Katumba who was also in sparkling form to bag 21 points.

Alexis Kituuka (58pts), Anne Ingabire (32pts) and Daya Mpeera (23pts) are the leaders in the 9-10 year olds, though the entry of Dolphins Kirabo Namutebi in this category opens it up going into the remaining two league meets.

Hannah Kyanda (24pts), Ssanyu Kagugube Nambeguya (23pts) and Isabel Angemi (16pts) are the leaders in the 8 and under category.

In the boys’ 13-14 year category, Seals’ Alvin Emitu (53pts) and Mackay Ssempa’s (44pts) are still top while in the 11-12 category Mark Wandera (33pts) and Julian Mpyisi Kwezi’s leadership is under threat from Dolphins’ Adnan Kabuye who collected 31 points on the day.

Francesco Kagugube (43pts) and Aaron Emitu (31pts) are top in the 9-10 category though the entry of Dolphins’ Raphael Sine opens up competition in the next league meets, just like John Kafumbe’s (33.5pts) is under threat from Altona Swim Club’s Abba Mayanja (24pts).

The newly introduced swim league format will have the top swimmers in each age category crowned at an awards gala at the end of the year.

The next Seals league meet will be held in August before the final one in December.
