This time round jewellery took centre stage at Club Silk’s `Fashion Nite’ last Thursday.  Dubbed `Flashy and fully accessorized,’ Leila Nankya used the night to showcase her range of beaded jewellery and accessories.

She did not disappoint as girl after girl came down the runway adorned in different colours of handmade bead work, which included necklaces, waist beads, hair jewellery, bungles and other accessories. The models were well selected this time, considering the quality of Kampala models.

Leila, when given a chance to speak urged Ugandans to stop importing jewellery which can be made here.  “Why should you import all those beaded things yet we can do them here and tailor made to suit your taste and occasion?” she asked.

The pieces, which were well put together, had intricate designs and patterns which were eye catching, though not as unique. It is no wonder that Juma Seiko and other patrons couldn’t wait for the night to end before getting some of the showcased jewellery.

The night started and ended with lots of cheers from the crowd, who were definitely wowed by the showcase and performances from Vocal police a music group, which comprises of musicians, like Empress, Jamie Woods and Burkley.

And it seems that Kampala has learnt to read the invitation memo’s as most of the ladies in the building endeavoured to show up sassy and accessorized.
