Makerere shortlists two for deputy VC

Makerere University has at last shortlisted two candidates vying for the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration).

Makerere University has at last shortlisted two candidates vying for the post of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration).
      

Dr. Barnabas Nawangwe, who was in the race for the Vice Chancellor last year, will tussle it out with Dr. Anthony Mugisha.
           
According to statement for the university’s publicist Ritah Namisango, the two candidates will make their presentation of business plans Tuesday morning in the main hall at the Main Building.

Dr. Anthony Mugisha is at the level of Associate Professor in the University service and also the Dean, School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio-Security.
           
Meanwhile, Dr. Barnabas Nawangwe is at the level of Associate Professor in the University service and also the Acting Principal, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology.
           
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Finance and Administration), assists the Vice Chancellor in the performance of his or her functions and in that regard shall oversee the finances and administration of the University and be responsible for the Planning and Development of the university.
           
Key duties of the vice chancellor include effective management and mobilisation of funds of the University, proper planning, budgeting and development of the university, implementation of investment policies and programmes and overseeing Human Resource Management functions.
           
He also handles security and procurement matters, and is also expected to perform other functions as may be delegated to him by the Vice-Chancellor or assigned by the University Council.
