AFTER a sh60m bonus shared among the Uganda Cranes players and technical staff over the weekend, the team will be fighting to beat Angola on Saturday and double the figure courtesy of FUFA.

Each player, who took part in the 1-0 defeat of Liberia in FIFA World Cup qualifier at Namboole pocketed sh1.5m at Sky Hotel while the technical staff had slightly more with a promise to increase the figure if Angola falls here on Saturday.

“I’m very proud of you all. You did the country proud and you deserve to be rewarded. This (bonus) will even be two times this if we can beat Angola in our next game,” local soccer federation president Lawrence Mulindwa said as he gave out the cash after the match.

Mulindwa also encouraged the players to keep the momentum and continue winning in a bid to inspire Government to finance the team.

The team regroups for residential training today after coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic gave them a day off yesterday.

Meanwhile, Cranes captain Andy Mwesigwa said that they will remain focused as they are aware that only a win against Angola will keep them in contention for a qualification slot to the final stage of the Africa Zone FIFA 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

“The result from Angola (a 1-all draw) against Senegal gives us more hope that we can advance and we knew that before we dispersed for a day off. It is not yet time to celebrate but we are all focused on winning,” said Mwesigwa.

Only the ten Africa group winners will advance to the final round of the Brazil 2014 qualifiers.
