Although the two Ugandan clubs at the 2015 Men’s Africa Volleyball Club Championships in Sousse, Tunisia are yet to impress at the CAVB competition, that has not undermined the value of Ugandan volleyball players.

As of Thursday, KAVC power attacker Daudi Okello was among those being sought after by foreign clubs.

One club that has come out to talk to the 6.8ft tall player is Espoir VC of Democratic Republic of Congo.

KAVC assistant coach Dannie Okwee disclosed that the DR Congo club officials are impressed by Okello’s ability to jump high and block with accuracy despite the fact that he is still young.

“A number of clubs here are impressed by his performance, physic and especially when you tell them that he is only 20 years old. But it is Espoir (DRC), who are serious about him although I do not see it going through,” Okwee told New Vision from Sousse.

Espoir is one of the clubs that has failed to qualify for quarterfinals in Group C together with Nemostars.

Okwee pointed that Okello whose A-Level results have just been released wants to join a university teaching in English because he can only speak the language and his local dialect.

DR Congo is a French speaking country. Okello is currently evaluating opportunities to join either Uganda Christian University or Makerere if an opportunity to play volleyball in USA fails to come through.
