CRANES striker Robert Ssentongo has promised to replicate the form that saw him win the 2011 Footballer of the year Award with the Cranes if he is picked for duty on Saturday.

The striker who currently plies his trade with St. George in Ethiopia was at the end of the 2011 season named player of the year after a fine display in-front of goal that also saw him win the Golden boot having scored 13 goals.

Yesterday Ssentongo drove away in a brand new Toyota Progres for the feat that he achieved with URA during the 2011 Bell Super League.

Ssentongo who had earlier received a land title during the awards night was grateful for the prize.

“I’m very happy that I have finally received this award, it’s a reward for hard work and I promise to put in more to show the sponsors that the award wasn’t in vain. My Dad played for Bell FC and I do enjoy the product so winning this car from Bell is a perfect connection with the brand,” Ssentongo stated.

Uganda Breweries Marketing director Grace Gwaku in the company of USL chairman Kavuma Kabenge handed over the car keys and log book to Ssentongo during a brief function at Royal Suites-Bugolobi.

“Bell lager will continue to reward exemplary individual skill and performance in Ugandan football and we are committed to raising the quality and standard of Ugandan footballers playing in the local league through such rewards. With better organization we promise to continue with this award even at the end of the next season,” Gwaku said.

“Despite a few misunderstandings between individuals I urge Bell to stick around football and continue giving back to the game through such initiatives, Kabenge urged the sponsors.
