MBARARA, western Uganda - Police in Mbarara have discovered the beheaded cadaver of a girl child with her right leg hacked off in a suspected ritual murder.

Ian Kakuru, the criminal investigations boss at Mbarara police station told New Vision that the body of the unidentified girl of about two-and-a half-years was earlier this week found dumped on a farm belonging to Kagugu Church of Uganda in Makoru village, Nyakayojo Sub-county in Mbarara.

“We received information from Patrick Agaba, the LC1 chairperson of the area. We were shocked when we visited the scene and found a headless decomposing body.

"We suspect this is one of the first ritual murders in Mbarara district,” he pointed out.

Kakuru said they were still searching for the missing body parts and no arrests had been made.

He appealed to the public to join hands with police in the fight against ritual murder and child sacrifice in the district.

He also urged parents who lost their child to report to Mbarara police to help them in their investigations.

The mutilated body is still in Mbarara hospital mortuary waiting for the relatives to claim it.
