THE body of AIGP Julius Shalita is expected to arrive in the country on Thursday aboard an Emirates flight.

This has been confirmed by the deputy police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, who said Shalita’s remains are expected to arrive at Entebbe Airport at 12:45pm.

Namaye told New Vision that the vigil will take place at the deceased’s home in Nsambya on the same day. Requiem service will take place at All Saints Church Nakasero the following day, she added.

The body will then proceed to Nyankukwe village in Mitooma district on Friday where another vigil will be held. Namaye confirmed the burial will take place on Saturday.

Shalita, a long serving policeman, died in New York where he had been posted as a police attaché with the Uganda Embassy.

Shalita joined the police force on February 1, 1987 as a cadet, having undergone training at the then Police College in Naguru.

He was squad mates with the likes of Edward Ochom, Godfrey Bangirana, Francis Rwego, Elizabeth Kutesa, all AIGPs and Juventine Odoket.

Shalita, who served in the criminal investigations department (CID) headquarters, was among 109 cadets who joined the force in 1987 and rose through the ranks, thanks to his hard work.
