News from the grapevine is that the Fuso Lorry, registration number UAS 372 P that President Yoweri  Museveni donated to the youth in Buyende district recently survived torching as locals clashed over its ownership.

The quarrel was ignited by the district youth executive, who duped the public that David Kirunda, their Chairman, had registered the lorry in the names of Buyende Youth Farmers Initiative, a farmers association in which he is the director.

The rebel camp fuelled the rumour that spread like a wild bush fire, prompting the youth to storm the parking lot to torch lorry.

But the agile Kirunda had detected the plot and rushed it to Kamuli Central Police Station. Kirunda later voluntarily handed the lorry over, ending the tension.

A seven-man committee to oversee its operations has been elected, with representatives from subcounties.
