WITH Rwenzori hosting Kenya side Nyumbu in the Bamburi Rugby Super Series Semi-final at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala on Saturday, flanker Mathias Ochwo and loose head prop Brian Odongo have been ruled out of that fixture.

Ochwo tore his Achilles tendon in Rwenzori’s opening fixture against Kenya side Kengewa and will be out of active rugby for the entire year while Odongo has a knee injury and doctors have advised him not to rush back in action.

Last week, Coach Fred Mudoola had summoned prop Brian Odongo (D’Mark Kobs) and 8th man/flanker Marvin Odong (G4S Pirates), to beef up his side with experience but Rugby Cranes physiotherapist Michael Kebu Leku advised him to rest Odongo.

“I’m handling Odongo and he is not yet ready for the game. It’s only the young Odong (Marvin) that I have Okayed to play and he is working on his fitness levels,” Kebu said.

Rwenzori aims to reach the final for the second year running and make amends for last year’s loss to UAP Rhinos.

Nyumbu were the pre-tournament favourites and they dished out a 70-15 beating to Victoria in the opening fixtures of the tournament and topped Pool A that also had Papa and Kiboko with ease.
