Uganda's team to the 2015 CANA Zone 1V Swimming Championships due in Angola in May will be known after the national trials on February 21-22.

The Uganda Swimming Federation will use the national trials due at Gems Cambridge International School swimming Pool to select a team to represent Uganda at the 13th edition of the event due May 6-9 at Luanda Swimming Pool in Angola.

According to a release by the general secretary of the association Moses Mwase, swimmers are requested to confirm their participation by email by February 17 indicating the specific events to be swam.

Last year Uganda finished 6th out of 11 countries at the annual championship held at Kampala Parents School pool.

As hosts, Uganda fielded the biggest number of swimmers (38), selected from a pool of sixty, that took on swimmers from Angola, Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia.

The CANA event excited NCS General Secretary Jasper Aligawesa who promised to fund Uganda's team "however big it will be" to this year's championships.

Blaeburn School's (Kenya) twelve year old Nabil Saleh was Uganda's best swimmer at last year's event, with seven gold medals in the tournament that attracted 386 swimmers.
