The minister in charge of the Presidency and Kampala Capital City Authority, Frank Tumwebaze, is not on forced leave. He is on annual official leave, Government has clarified.

The minister for security Muruli Mukasa said in a statement issued Thursday that Tumwebaze is on official leave.

“Hon Tumwebaze is on official leave which commenced on January 3, 2015 and ends on February 2. He was cleared by the Prime Minister contrary to false and malicious hate content circulating on social media that minister was sent on forced leave and is being investigated."

Muruli explained: “It is always normal that a minister is out of office either for the purpose of taking his/her leave or for executing any other duty out of station, another colleague steps in and holds the Portfolio.

"That is why I am currently holding the Portfolio for the Minister in Charge of the Presidency and Kampala.”

He called upon the public to ignore such reports describing them as totally untrue and should be treated with contempt they deserve.
