Photojournalist Andrew Lwanga who was recently hospitalized after he was battered by the Old Kampala Division Police Commander Joram Mwesigye is looking for sh4.5m for surgery.

Lwanga was scheduled to undergo lumbar spine surgery after landing on his back when Mwesigye and other cops battered him while he covered a demonstration by the poor youth in Kampala.

Lwanga is however in better shape and could afford a smile at Nsambya Hospital. He is regularly taken for physiotherapy after he got paralyzed when he was assaulted by Mwesigye.

He said he was getting better but doctors had told him they planned a surgery to mend his back and it would cost sh4.5m, which he said he did not have.
