ENTEBBE/KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday met Gen. David Sejusa (Tinyefuza) who recently returned from self imposed exile.

The meeting, according to the president's deputy press secretary Lindah Nabusayi, took place at State House Entebbe.

The surprise meeting followed two days in which Gen Sejusa had declined to meet the president, and had been confined to his house in Kampala.

Earlier on Saturday, President Museveni appeared on Capital FM's weekly talk show Capital Gang, during which he promised to resolve the issue.

"I had not commented on the return of Gen. Tinyefunza. I have seen a lot in the papers. I want to use this chance to sort out facts for public," a cheerful Museveni reportedly said in Entebbe .

" Gen. Tinyefunza has been in London but at some stage I came to learn that he wanted to come back. When I learnt that he wants to come back, I sent three young people, two of whom are here, to contact him."

'I didn't want him harassed'

Museveni commented further: "I have seen in papers that he has been bribed, he was given money...that is not true. We actually wanted to give him an airticket but he said 'No'.

"To sort out all the confusion arising out of his stay in London, he agreed to come back at his own cost. That he is a rich man, I don't know where he got money from. It's true we wanted to support him but he declined.

"I don't think even Brig. Proscovia Nalweiso who was facilitating the travel knew. I didn't tell her. Because I was handling this myself, I was not involving anybody else except these young people.

"I didn't tell anybody, I didn't want him to come and be arrested at the airport. On the day he was coming, I had travelled to Abu Dhabi.

"I didn't tell anybody, I didn't want him to be harassed. That is why I sent Inteligence chief Brig. Ronnie Balya to go there and wait for him."

Gen. Sejusa on his part said Brig. Balya caused confusion as people thus claimed he was recieved officially.

"He came and went to the village. What has been happening has been a lack of coordination partly because of the secrecy of how I handled it," Museveni concluded.
