The Archbishop of Kampala diocese Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has urged Ugandans to promote peace in the country and avoid revenge.

In his Christmas sermon at Rubaga cathedral Kampala, Archbishop Lwanga asked Ugandans to always obey lawful orders by government and avoid involving themselves in fight with government.

“We should all respect government, let us not take revenge and fight the State. However, the State should protect us by fighting corruption some people are only working for their stomachs; this is bad,” said Lwanga.

The Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi who also attended Christmas prayers at Rubaga Cathedral re-echoed Archbishop Lwanga’s message on peace observing the need for Ugandans to embrace peace.

“If there is peace in Uganda, there is development, without peace, there cannot be development. So we should ensure that there is peace in Uganda, neighboring countries and the African continent at large,” said Ssekandi.

Representing Buganda Premier Charles Peter Mayiga, Dr. Ben Mukwaya the health minister asked Ugandans to promote and protect the environment for a better Uganda.

He also called for enough food production in the country as a way of economic transformation and a remedy to famine outbreak.

The four-hour Christmas mass was attended by political leaders including ministers, MPs among other distinguish dignitaries.
