Chris Evans, Kadongo Kamu and Silk unplugged - not a perfect match

One of the Kadongo Kamu guest artists at Chris Evans’ Unplugged show at Club Silk on Thursday night probably put it best when he said he had never dreamed of performing there.

That was apparently true for a lot of people, who just didn’t show up for the last PAMA Best New Artist winner.

It was a scanty crowd, in contrast to the standing room only of last month’s Unplugged which featured Chameleone, which just goes to show that while he may be popular in some parts of town, Evans (real name Kanyike) has not yet captured the ‘up town’ crowd.

But he is a humble person, and appreciated the chances he has been given to showcase his talents. That said the few who were there obviously understood and appreciated his music, and it was party time as he went through his repertoire of songs.

Helped along by singers Rema and Ronald Mayinja, and a few kadongo kamu artists who were excited just to be there,

Evans gave a good account of himself. The live band that was backing him up was also right on the button, pity there were not that many people to cheer him up.
