Heavyweight Charles Muwanga will be in action on Saturday in his third professional fight.

He takes on Kenya’s Robert Chugu in an eight round contest at Sabrinas Pub. He has one win and a loss.

Muwanga, who is also a successful farmer in Nwoya County, has promised Ugandans a good fight.

“It is going to be explosive,” said Muwanga, who as an amateur had 23 wins and three losses.

He was East African Military Games gold medalist and Zone Five runner-up.

Muwanga has been training under coach Quraish Walusimbi at the Hotel Africana gym.

His spirits were high on Friday after the arrival of his coach Hassan Saku from Sweden. Ugandan promoter Sam Lukanga is amongst those backing him.

“He has given me a few tips on how to win,” said Muwanga.

Unlike most fighters who have retired in abject poverty, Muwanga is doing well in tomato farming.

“I want to show fellow fighters that there is also life outside the ring. Boxers can also be successful in other fields,” the towering athlete said on a courtesy call to New Vision. Tickets will go for sh50,000 for the VIP, 20,000 for the general wing and 10,000 for boxers.
