A woman from Kaliro district is admitted at Iganga hospital with deep wounds after a man identified as Kakaire Mugabi cut her up using a power saw.

Ruth Babona told New Vision that the assailant had approached her last month seeking to have a love affair with her.

"I vehemently rejected the proposal informing him that although I separated from my husband, I have five children to look after as a single mother but Mugabi kept on the pressure” Babona said.

She narrated that he would almost on a daily basis pitch camp outside her door in Nawaikoke village and keep knocking persistently until the wee hours of the morning.

"On Wednesday night, I heard the sound of a power saw used to cut timber outside my door as I slept. The next thing I saw was the wooden door split into bits as Mugabi forced his way into the house," Babona said.

She added that after the door, the assailant proceeded to cut her hand as she tried to grab the machine from him.

Dr. Siraje Kizito of Iganga hospital said the patient was in a stable condition and responding well to treatment.

"She was referred here from Nawaikoke health centre III where she had first aid administered shortly after the attack," Kizito revealed.

Sarah Namumbya, the Kaliro district security committee boss confirmed that Mugabi was a fugitive and police would with time nab him.
