The Miss Uganda 2013 Beauty Pageant was unveiled at a colorful cocktail ceremony held at the Kampala Serena Hotel late Wednesday evening to a myriad of media personalities and guests.

The Miss Uganda 2013 Beauty Pageant was unveiled at a colorful cocktail ceremony held at the Kampala Serena Hotel late Wednesday evening to a myriad of media personalities and guests.

With a fashion show, drinks and hors d’ oeuvres doing the rounds, it was indeed a night to start bidding farewell to reigning queen, Phiona Bizzu.

“We are pleased to announce the search for Miss Uganda 2013  and invite eligible young ladies to sign up for this life changing and empowering journey with great opportunities for them to achieve their dreams and transform their  communities and the country,” Brenda Nanyonjo CEO of Miss Uganda.

It will be a three month road to the finals starting with four regional pageants and a three week boot-camp July 23 grand finale. Lira, Jinja, Mbarara, Masaka and Kampala will play host to the various regional pageants.

As part of a game-upper, the winner will drive away in a Mercedes Benz A class whose fuel and maintenance will be fully covered for a year.

The beauty queen will also be entitled to a monthly stipend worth sh1.5m while the first and second runner up will be entitled to sh1m and sh500,000 respectively.

“Miss Uganda resonates with Redd’s vision to further raise the profile of Uganda’s, culture, fashion and style industry by creating an empowering platform for young women to express themselves, achieve their dreams and positively influence others,” Dorothy Muttu, Redd’s Brand Manager said during the launch.

 Aspiring contestants will be able to access entry forms through Redd’s Facebook page and from the Miss Uganda offices in industrial Area.  

Other sponsors of the pageant include Vision groups Kampala Sun newspaper, and Kampala Serena Hotel.
