Ndejje to face Algerians in quarterfinals

NDEJJE University will take on Algeria’s GPS in the quarterfinals of the Africa Women’s Volleyball Championship in Madagascar today after eliminating Manga Sports of Gabon in the group stage on Saturday.

Uganda’s representatives put up a gallant fight against Manga Sport before taking the decisive set 15-12.

The team had taken the lead 25-22 but the Gabonese recovered to win the second set 25-27. Ndejje took another lead 25-23 before the teams tied again at 28-30.

Prossy Alobo was one of Ndejje’s top performers as the team won the decisive set to qualify.

“The girls were determined to win that match. I pray the same spirit will be exhibited in the quarterfinal,” the team coach Johnson Kawenyera said from Madagascar yesterday.
