Students selected to represent Uganda in the 4th session of the International award for memorizing, reciting and Tajweed of the Holy Koran are in Kuwait making final preparations for the competition.

Sheikh Ismael Wandeeba, the personal private secretary to the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, said the two, Abubakar Ali Mutebi and Hussein Muwonge left for Kuwait on Wednesday for the ten-day competition.

This follows the invitation sent to the Mufti by the Kuwait King Swabah Al Ahmadi Al Jabil Aswabah through Sheikh Hani Abdul Aziz Hussein, the Kuwait Petroleum, Endowment and Islamic Affairs Minister.

Wandeeba said the departure of the two students was slightly delayed following consultations between the Uganda Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.

The students are expected back on April 14.
