Golfers will this weekend pray for playable weather conditions as they hit the course for the Kakira Open in Jinja and the monthly mug at Kitante.

Last week the monthly mug action was washed out alongside the Rotary on the Green fundraising tournament by torrential rains that made the course unplayable at Uganda Golf Club, Kitante.

If today’s conditions allow, regular top mug contestants Francis Ngabo, Gerald Kabuye, Phillip Kasozi and Joseph Mawejje among others are all expected to contest the mug accolade alongside Sammy Miginda, Onyango Matata and Karanja Karubio.

Daniel Kalimuzo, Sam Zaramba, Charles Katarikawe, Charles Kareeba, Francis Kazinduki, Chris Mutegyeki and others who missed out on last weekend’s action are expected to vie for the respective group mugs.

The ladies’ charge will be led by lady captain Katy Kabenge who will battle the likes of Agnes Konde, Gloria Mbaguta, Candy Mpanga and Monica Ntege for the top mug. Harriet Kitaka, Mary Zaramba, Jenina Nasimolo, Ruth Ssali and Lilian Anguparu are some of the other ladies expected to vie for the top three and runners-up mugs on show.

As the Uganda Golf Club members fight for the mugs, other golfers from across the country will also be winding up the Kakira Open which started yesterday with the professionals and the 0-5 handicappers at the nine-hole Jinja Golf Club.
