HEAVYWEIGHT boxer Kenneth Odeke and Hassan ‘Bana Bana’ Haruna could be the next Ugandans in line for major world titles if they can win their upcoming fights on April 26.

Odeke has secured a World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa contest against little known Iranian Sayed Abbas Nassab while Bana Bana will be out to take on another Iranian Govad Zovarhend in a WBC Middle East super middleweight title fight at Kati Kati, Kampala on the same night.

While addressing the press yesterday, Odeke, flanked by Uganda Boxing Union, promoters Big Strikers officials and sponsors of the contest displayed an unusual level of confidence.

The boxer, who has had three straight knockouts in his professional career so far, declared himself the best heavyweight boxer in Uganda today with a dream to win the contest and fight beyond Africa.

His ambitions were quickly endorsed when his manager Emmanuel Mwesigwa said the Ugandan could fight any of the Ukrainian heavyweight boxing brothers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko; a dream Odeke quickly confirmed.

“Nothing is impossible about fighting any of the Klitschko brothers. In fact I do not admire them. My role model is (undisputed heavyweight boxer) Lennox Lewis. I want to go that far. The Klitschko brothers are nothing,” Odeke sounded his dream.

Lewis retired after knocking out Vitali in a WBC heavyweight title fight in 2003.

For Odeke, who has won all his three professional fights by knock outs, facing Nassab presents him with an opportunity to map himself on the world boxing arena.

“I know he is taller than me but I do not care. He will face one of the best heavyweight boxers in Africa,” Odeke warned. Odeke is ranked 388 in the world.
