Two months ago, Sunday Vision published a story about Saulo Atuyambe, 16, who had taken charge of his three siblings at the age of 13, after the death of their father, John Bosco Agaba in 2005.

He dropped out of school to take care of his sick mother, Medius Ayinake, who died in 2009, leaving her four children alone in a small house at Kanyasheko Zone B, Nyabuhike sub-county, Ibanda district.

All Atuyambe wanted was to go back to school. He got 16 aggregates in his Primary Leaving Examinations.

Atuyambe’s prayer was answered. Good Samaritans read his story and contributed money for scholastic materials and school fees at Nyabuhike SS, Ibanda district.

“I opted for a boarding school to enable me concentrate on my studies,” the determined boy says.

Although Atuyambe is excited about joining secondary school, he still faces other challenges.

“After joining the boarding section, my two siblings may not be in position to get scholastic materials as I will not be working,” he says.

When he was at home, Atuyambe used to make bricks and sell them to raise money for his siblings’ scholastic materials.

Atuyambe, who is grateful to Sunday Vision readers, says the LC1 chairperson, Moses Rubare and the community have always provided food whenever the family is unable.
