President Yoweri Museveni has assured Ugandans that security organs are better equipped; more prepared and have the capacity to contain any wrong elements that threaten the peace and security of Ugandans.

He allayed fears of insecurity in the country and urged leaders to mobilize the people into modern agro production to promote incomes.

The President made the remarks on Wednesday in a meeting with a delegation of leaders from Acholi sub-region led by the Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Hillary Onek who called on him at his country home in Rwakitura Kiruhura district.

The leaders were from the seven districts of of Acholi sub-region that include Agago, Amuru, Gulu, Kitgum, Pader, Lamwo and Nwoya.

He urged the leaders to sensitize the people to adopt the culture of creating wealth at house hold levels through modern commercial farming to boost household incomes.

“Help our people on the concept of wealth creation. Our people need attitude change, guide them,” he counseled.

The President who discussed various development issues in the region with the leaders stressed that whereas infrastructure and service delivery were vital, house hold incomes are paramount to promote development.

He cited the situation in his area of Kiruhura district where the indigenous people were mainly nomads but changed to permanent settlements following his advice to them to abandon the unproductive nomadic way of life.

Museveni also cautioned people against land fragmentation.

He also asked members of the delegation to sensitize the people about the NRM government’s policy of prioritization of crucial programs.

“One by one makes a bundle. All programs cannot be done at once. The government first implements those that are of primary importance,” he said.
