KICKING remains a big problem that has continued to haunt clubs. This was evident in the Nile Special Premier Rugby League bottom four semi-finals where Xfm Impis emerged 17-10 victors over Rhinos.

In the 67th and 72nd minutes and Impis leading 12-10, Rhinos’ James Musitwa squandered two penalties that would have reinstated his side to a 16-12 lead or else hand them victory.

Musitwa had given the visitors a 3-0 early lead through a penalty, but Impis replied with a try courtesy of Keith Sseruyange to give the hosts a 5-3 half time lead.

In the second half buoyed by a huge home crowd, Impis added a try and conversion through Sseruyange to stretch the lead to 12-3 before Musitwa replied for Rhinos with a try and conversion to close the gap to 12-10.

Rhinos’ regained hope of winning and mounted pressure but their hope was smashed by Emma Echudu in the 79th minute when he added a try that gave Impis a 17-10 victory to set a fifth position final against Entebbe based Sadolin Mongers.

“We started the league fighting relegation but thanks to Xfm sponsorship that boosted the boys’ morale. We are now going for fifth position,” club chairman and assistant coach Luis Lwanga stated.

After the game a former rugby player with Bishop Cyprian Kyangire, Luzira, Alex Kumakech won the sh200,000 for scoring in the fans kicking promotion. He said he would invest the money in his business.
