EDWIN Ekiring is among three players in danger of being fined by the world badminton body IBF for missing the Uganda International Championship.

Ekiring, based in the Netherlands, failed to process his travel documents in time and missed the event.

Rudolf Dellenbach of Hungary and Scottish star Casey Alistair, like Ekiring, face a fine of sh1.2m.

International rules say that a player who fails to make it to the tournament after the draw is made has to be fined a minimum of $500 (sh1.26m).

The tournament ended on Sunday.

National badminton coach Simon Mugabi reacted by saying, “We were in touch with Ekiring but he failed to get his travel documents processed in time.”

He added that the Hungarian and Scottish players fell sick and could not travel.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s Shamim Bangi and Margaret Nankabirwa were beaten in the mixed doubles final as the tournament came to a close.
