Body Builder Ivan Byekwaso has won a bronze medal at the Natural Body Building World Olympiad in the US.

The World Natural Body Building and Fitness Championship silver medalist, who had set himself a target of gold, found the going hard and settled for bronze which he was very grateful for.

“God is great, who am I to get bronze in the opening men’s natural Olympia 2014,” Byekwaso posted on his facebook wall.

In another post he described the medal as the biggest he has ever won before he took time to take pictures with whoever crossed his path.

“I have won several local events and it is time to test myself against the world’s best; I have prepared well and I promise that I will come back with gold,” Byekwaso said before he left.

But the bronze in such a world event is a big boost in his career according to his manager Kamal Sabuni.

“The Olympiad is big business, whatever he wins there will be a big boost because he is the first African to get there and the experience he gains there will help him even do better at next year’s World Championships in Dubai and at the Mr. Universe championship which he will also compete in,” Sabuni said.

Byekwaso, who traveled with sports commissioner Omara Apitta, competed in the 178 cm men’s category.

Byekwaso’s charisma, patience and hard work has seen him scale the heights in the sport and now with the backing of state house the sky could be the limit for the 36-year-old.
