Makerere University Business School (MUBS) players dipped their coaches in water soon after winning the beach soccer championships in what appears to be a ritual after they successfully defended the trophy last Sunday.

The players ganged up as they celebrated their final 3-2 victory in penalties over Nkumba, carried head coach Charles Ayeko and his assistants shoulder high and dipped each one of them three times in Lake Victoria at Lido Beach as they sang celebratory songs.

MUBS Brian Nkuubi, who emerged top scorer and MVP of the two-day championship, Baker Lukooya, Maxwel Okello and goalkeeper Joab Tuyinamasiko all exhibited exceptional performances as the Nakawa-based institution won the title for the second year running.

“It comes as an instinct when everybody is happy. They know it is just about celebration. We did it last year and after winning this year we had to do it again,” Okello said after picking the trophy. Ayeko was full of praise for his team saying that, “At the moment I have the best team in beach soccer and I had to win this championship. It was ours to lose.”

A total of nine universities from as far as Jinja (Busoga University) and Bishop Stuart University Mbarara took part in the championship
