Ugandan and Rwandan police chiefs have resolved to crack down on criminals along the border. This follows a meeting at White Horse Inn in Kabale on Sunday.

The Rwandan delegation was led by Emmanuel Gasana and that of Uganda by Lt. General Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police.

The meeting aimed at ensuring security and fighting trans-national crime through enhancing co-operation. It also aimed at disaster management, cybercrime, human trafficking and terrorism.

The team reviewed the implementation of an earlier agreement between the two police institutions and followed up the recommendations of the chiefs of police meeting held in May 2012.

Kayihura said insecurity at the border had increased. He cited the recent killing of a prominent Ugandan money-changer at the Katuna border area.
