IAAF recognises Ugandan athletes, officials

10 athletes that also included Patrick Etolu, Uganda’s 1956 Olympian were also recognised together with other officials and clubs that have kept athletics shining

1996 Atlanta Olympics Games bronze medallist Davis Kamoga is among the individuals that were recognised by IAAF, as they marked 100 years of existence at a ceremony where Uganda also marked 80 years of existence at Serena Hotel.

Kamoga, who also won a silver medal in the Athens World Athletics Championships in 1997, was given a certificate of recognition together with Grace Birungi, All Africa Games bronze medallist in 1999 among other veteran athletes that were recognised by IAAF.

“These are the people that have done so much in building athletics in the country either through performance or as officials,” said Uganda Athletics Federation president Dominic Otucet.
