The results of August national housing census will be released in December next yaer, Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has announced.

Provisional results will be released before the end of this year.

According to UBOS Executive Director, Dr. Ben Mungyereza, the plan is to have the date of releasing provisional results coincide with the Africa’s Statistics Day – November 18.

The provisional results will capture few aspects of the entire data collected during the August census exercise; although Mungyereza contends the results will be a fair reflection of the substantive results.

“The main data processing has not begun. To date, we have been able to retrieve data collected during census exercise from 64 districts,” Mungyereze told journalists earlier Wednesday during announcement of the impending post enumeration survey.

The 10-day exercise is tailored to corroborate data collected during the census exercise through random survey of households in selected areas.

Uganda had not conducted a census in 12 years although international standards demand that the exercise be carried out every after 10 years.
