Workers MP Dr. Sam Lyomiki has been arrested shortly after he appeared on a local TV station for a morning talk show.

A Police Spokesperson Vicente Ssekatte said the MP is being detained at Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU) at Kireka where he is expected to record a statement.

Lyomoki on Monday vowed to defy police summons requiring him to report for interrogation over alleged incitement of violence at the burial of the late MP Cerinah Nebanda in Butaleja district in December last year.

According to  a copy of the police summons  seen by the New Vision, Lyomoki was expected to report SIU ) on Monday January 14, 2013 to  record a statement  regarding the words he uttered during the burial which police say were intended to incite mourners into acts of violence.

However addressing journalists on the same day at the parliamentary building in Kampala, Lyomoki said he would not appear before police saying they were also suspects in the death of the late Nebanda.

"The police have no moral authority to summon me, they are suspects they should first summon the inspector general of police and ask him why he stopped an independent pathologist that was taking Nebanda's body samples for toxicological tests in South Africa."

Lyomoki is one of the Doctors that represented parliament at the post-mortem room where Nebanda's post-mortem was carried out.
He said he would only appear before an independent inquiry than being quizzed by police which he says is working under pressure.

Police recently issued summons and also arrested some MPs over statements they made regarding the mysterious death of the late MP Cerinah Nebanda.

MPs  Mohammed Nsereko (Kampala central), Theodore Ssekikubo (Lwemiyaga county, Betty Nambooze (Mukono Municipality) Medard Bitekyerezo (Mbarara municipality, Chris Baryomunsi  and  Hatibu Katoto Katerera county have  since  recorded  their statements before police.
