At least 13 people on Thursday morning survived being killed by a Fuso Truck lost control and rammed into the restaurant in which they were taking their breakfast.

The accident happened when a Fuso truck registration number RAC 851I veered off the road and plunging into the building. Hitting a parked car beyond repair in the process.

Aron Tayebwa an eye witness said he saw the vehicle turning towards the building.

“I was standing outside and saw the truck ram into the building I did not know the real cause,” said Tayebwa.

But Zubairi Majambere the driver of the truck said the broker who was taking them to load maize claimed that he knew how to drive, but instead failed to control the vehicle.

“I was seated in the vehicle on the passenger side as the man only identified as Sharif told me he knew how to drive, but all of a sudden we rammed into the building,” said Majambere.

One of the people who were having breakfast in the restaurant only identified as Omwony attached to Kagadi Police station said he was only saved by God because the vehicle hit exactly where he was seated.

“What saved me is that I had moved to the counter to pay for the meal and I just heard a loud bang,” said Omwony.

The officer in charge traffic Police at Kagadi Police station, Wilson Mwebaze, said the accident involved two vehicles one with Ugandan registration number UAF 693D saloon car that was parked and has been damaged beyond repair.

Mwebaze said the Police is still investigating the cause of the accident, but has already towed the two vehicles to Kagadi Police station.

“We are still investigating the incident, but the small car has been damaged beyond repair,” he said.

Sharif is currently on the run and the Police is hunting for him.
