Uganda’s badminton stalwart and vice captain of the national side, Margaret Nankabirwa 27, has gone missing.

The seed two player who represented Uganda in the Glasgow Commonwealth games went missing after causing outrage in the Nsambya community, a city suburb, following an open relationship with a fellow girl.

According to a family source, when Nankabirwa returned from Scotland she openly introduced to her new lover identified as Lydia Nabukenya and they were open about their lesbian affair in a strong Christian neighbourhood.

Concerned residents petitioned the Nsambya Police to act because there has been a steady rise in recruitment of unsuspecting youth into the vice.

“Her mother was disappointed in her and when she tried to enlist the help of the Church to arrange for counselling, Nankabirwa, a Bachelor of Business Administration graduate from Ndejje University fled the home and has not re-appeared.

She is worried about her daughter’s whereabouts and fears for her life owing to the open revelations about her sexuality and how word spread across the community.

Ever since president Museveni signed the anti-gay bill, which punishes homosexual sex; many activists are in hiding or have fled.
